We started Bush Motels in 1984, and made the original low profile pop-top slide-on campers in 1985. These were hi-ten steel framed, with hi-ten steel cladding - very strong, and similar weight to conventional campers of the day. These vans were the best for tropical travel, especially in the build-up and wet, as they were so well ventilated.
First commercial slide-on to make it to Cape York; used by FNQ’s Travelling Padre; CSIRO and other agencies needing robust remote accommodation that coped with heat, dust, and downpours.
